Aston
Martin is a British car company producing some of the worlds most
prestigeous cars. It was set up in 1914 by Lionel Martin and Robert
Bamford and the company was originally called Bamford & Martin.
Lionel
Martin raced at Aston Hill and it was then that they decided to
make thei own cars. Their first car was produced in 1915 but due
to World War 1 production could not take place.
In
1924 the company went bancrupt but was subsequently bought but then
failed again in 1925 and the factory closed in 1926.
Later
in 1926 the company was started up again and it was re-named Aston
Martin Motors.
In
1947 after World War II David Brown Limited bought the company and
is the reason why you see the DB (David Brown) letters
in the names of Aston Martins.
Due
to the glamour of the Aston Martin car it was the car that was selected
to be used in the
1964 Bond film "Goldfinger".
It has also appeared in Thunderball (1965), On Her Majesty's Secret
Service (1969), The Living Daylights (1987), GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow
Never Dies (1997), Die Another Day (2002) & also Casino Royale
(2006).
Many
of the Aston Martins featured in the Bond films were specially modified
cars with rockets and guns but have still helped make the car as
popular as ever.
