Thruxton
race circuit
Thruxton
race circuit is situated and built on an old RAF airbase.
In 1950 the runways were and perimiter roads were used to create
a race circuit and bikes were the first to race there. In 1952 cars
also started to race there.
In
1968 a new track was built to replace all the broken tarmac that
had deteriated with the racing on it previously. The circuit design
wa schanged and went away from the runways it had previosuly used
but now forms a much more "rounded" circuit that is very
fast with long fast sweeping curves.
